Publish & Draft
QRCompose separates draft work from published live experiences. Understanding this distinction helps you build freely on any plan while knowing exactly what goes live.
Drafts are unlimited
On every plan, you can save unlimited drafts:
- Pages in the Page Library
- QR codes in the designer
- Apps in the App Builder
Drafts are not publicly accessible until you publish them. Autosave keeps designer work safe while you iterate.
Published apps and limits
A published app is a live, publicly accessible experience. Plan limits apply to how many apps can be published simultaneously:

When you hit your publish limit, QRCompose blocks new publishes and prompts you to upgrade or unpublish an existing app.
Capability-based publish gates
Beyond app count limits, certain page types require specific plan capabilities:

When publish is blocked, the designer:
- Saves your current configuration as a draft
- Shows an upgrade modal with the required plan
- Returns you to the designer after upgrade so you can publish immediately
Preview trial behaviour
A Preview Trial (7-day Advanced preview) temporarily unlocks Advanced-tier publish capabilities. Content you publish during the trial stays in your account.
If the trial expires without conversion:
- Your account returns to Free
- Premium assets (menus, bookings, payments, etc.) are paused — not deleted
- Pause records allow restoration when you upgrade again
Demo accounts
Publishing from the public designer (/public/designer) creates a free demo tenant automatically. Demo accounts:
- Show demo watermarks on published content
- Cannot start a preview trial
- Are intended for evaluation, not production use
Event publish gates
Events follow a separate commercial model. You can build and draft events on any plan, but publishing an event requires an active event licence. See Event Licensing.
Unpublishing and archiving
- Unpublishing an app or page makes it inactive; the QR short link stops resolving to live content
- Deleting a page, app, or QR code is permanent — analytics and submissions are removed
- Refunding an event licence may automatically unpublish the event
Upgrade return path
When an upgrade modal appears during publish, QRCompose persists your designer draft locally and in your account. After upgrading:
- Return to Designer
- Your draft reloads automatically
- Click Publish again — entitlements now allow it
